Police in Bulacan confiscated counterfeit footwear worth ₱9.09 million (USD 158,000) during a buy-bust operation in San Jose del Monte, leading to the arrest of a 39 year old individual. According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the operation took place on a Monday evening and targeted a store involved in the illegal trade.
Authorities reported that the suspect was caught in the act of distributing counterfeit shoes and has since been placed under the custody of the CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit. The person is now awaiting charges before the National Prosecution Service for alleged violations of Republic Act 8293, also known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
