Shanghai Pudong Expo Area Administration Bureau Delegates Visit TAPA APAC: Fostering Collaboration with Associations

On the 13th of July 2023, Transported Asset Protection Association Asia Pacific (TAPA APAC) had the honour of hosting the official visit of delegates from the Expo Area Administration Bureau of Shanghai Pudong New Area at their office in Singapore. This significant event also brought together esteemed individuals from various associations, including Mr. Ethane, Association of Process Industry (ASPRI), Singapore Water Association (SWA), International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Singapore Chapter, and BCP (ASIA Business Continuity Planning Asia). The purpose of this official visit was to facilitate collaboration, address the challenges faced by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) entering China, particularly in Shanghai, and explore avenues for development and cooperation.

The agenda of the meeting centred around engaging in in-depth discussions about the obstacles and difficulties encountered by associations and Non-government Organizations (NGOs) when entering China, with a specific focus on Shanghai Pudong Expo Area. This topic was of utmost importance as it aimed to identify and overcome barriers that hinder the effective operations of NGOs in the region. Valuable insights, experiences, and potential solutions were shared among the delegates, fostering an environment of collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The Expo Area Administration Bureau of Shanghai Pudong New Area has expressed their support for the associations’ members to expand into the Expo Area and create greater synergy with the region’s companies as a mega business district. The Expo Area is one of the most active regions for foreign investment and highest concentration of regional headquarters of transnational companies in Shanghai, providing a suite of talent services, business-support facilities and urban living environment.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the recognition of TAPA APAC’s successful registration and office in Shanghai Pudong, which carried profound symbolic meaning for its member companies. The delegates from the Expo Bureau and the attending associations acknowledged the achievements of TAPA APAC and engaged in discussions regarding the organization’s promising future development in China. This recognition further solidified TAPA APAC’s position as a vital association in the industry and paved way for enhanced cooperation between the Expo Bureau, TAPA APAC, and the other associations present.

Mr. Alvin Lau, Executive Director of TAPA APAC, commented, “It is our honour to be able to be part of this exciting and upcoming business activity zone. This visit served as a foundation for future endeavours and collaborations between the Expo Bureau and TAPA APAC. With a shared goal of promoting resilient and sustainable supply chains, we look forward to bring more value to our member companies and connect them with the Expo Bureau for support services in the Expo Area. This meeting has set the stage for a brighter and more prosperous future in the Expo area and beyond.”
