In an overnight burglary in Thane, Maharashtra, unidentified individuals broke into a warehouse in the Khopat area and stole valuables worth over ₹51 lakh (USD 59,000). The incident occurred sometime between the night of July 14 and the early hours of July 15, targeting a distribution firm’s godown.
According to police, the burglars forcefully entered into the premises and looted a wide range of items, including both imported and domestic cigarettes, a DVR surveillance system, ₹1.2 lakh (USD 1,300) in cash, and two silver idols valued at approximately ₹1 lakh (USD 1,100). The theft was discovered by warehouse staff on the morning of July 15, who immediately reported the substantial loss to authorities.
The police station has registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a full-scale investigation. As of writing, no arrests have been made, but efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Police are reviewing surveillance footage and tracking potential leads as part of the investigation.
