The Arson Squad has charged a person in connection with a truck fire in Dudley Park. The incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. on a Monday, when the man allegedly ignited a large bale of recycled tyres secured to the flatbed of a truck parked on Boundary Road. As the tyres burned, they rolled onto the street, completely blocking it with charred rubber and wire debris.
According to WA Police, the blaze also damaged nearby power lines and poles, resulting in a power outage. The fire caused an estimated USD 131,000 in damages. The suspect has been charged with criminal damage by fire and is set to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court.
