Thieves Target Truck Carrying Motor Bikes in India

A group of criminals targeted a truck transporting high-end motorcycles. Although the thieves were unsuccessful in stealing the bikes, they managed to make off with several parts, along with the driver’s phone and cash.

The incident involved a person, who was driving a truck loaded with motorcycles from Haryana. The shipment was scheduled for delivery to two dealerships in Bengaluru and Bidarahalli.

The driver completed the first on June 22. However, while en route to Bidarahalli later that night, he became disoriented near a hospital in Virgonagar. Around 2 a.m., with the area nearly deserted, he parked the truck by the roadside and walked into the hospital to ask for directions, leaving the vehicle keys inside.

This moment of vulnerability gave the thieves the opportunity to act. Within minutes, they drove off with the truck. The driver’s phone and wallet, which were left in the vehicle, complicated his efforts to seek help. Unable to locate the truck nearby, he proceeded to the supposedly second delivery location early the next morning. There, he informed an employee, borrowed his phone, and contacted the truck owner. GPS tracking led them to Gundur village near Hoskote.

Upon arriving at a playground in Gundur, they discovered that the thieves had attempted to remove one of the motorbikes but failed. Nevertheless, they had damaged both sides of the motorcycle and stolen various parts, including its mirrors, silencer, batteries, and key set. Additionally, they took USD 34 in cash and the driver’s mobile phone.

A theft case was registered under BNS Section 303 at Avalahally police station. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage from the route leading to Gundur. “We believe the culprits were aware that the truck was carrying the motorcyles. These bikes start at over USD 17,000. We’ve found some leads and are working on tracking them down,” stated a police official.
