Theft from Shipment Worth USD 138,000, Under Probe in India

A case has been filed by a Haryana resident and field operations executive at the company operating the truck involved in the incident. According to the complaint, the truck was loaded with 11,677 goods on September 27 from Bhiwandi, Mumbai, and dispatched to the warehouse in Mohanpur, Khanna. Upon arrival, the driver and his helper parked the vehicle at the warehouse and left.

Later, a company staff member contacted the field operations executive to report that during the consignment scan, 234 items were found missing. The stolen items included 221 mobile phones, five other smartphones, clothes, headphones, moisturizers, perfumes, and soaps, with an estimated total value of USD 138,000. Authorities now suspect that the driver and helper conspired in the theft.

Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed that an investigation is underway and that CCTV footage is being reviewed. He also raised concerns about how the digital lock, installed in Mumbai, was opened since its password is only accessible to authorized warehouse officials and never shared with drivers or staff. Meanwhile, the company has launched its own internal inquiry and is reviewing its cargo tracking system. Police have begun an active search to locate the missing driver and his accomplice.
