The TAPA Cyber Security Standard (CSS) 2025 is the latest version and a globally recognized framework developed to protect critical supply chain infrastructure. This Standard outlines the minimum requirements to safeguard sensitive data, reduce cyber risks, and maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information across supply chain operations. It is applicable across all TAPA regions – Americas, Asia Pacific (APAC), and Europe, the Middle East & Africa (EMEA) – and is particularly relevant in business engagements between Buyers and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs).
Certification is carried out by independent auditing bodies to verify compliance with the Standard.
Global Scope and Objectives
- Unified Framework: CSS is a single-level standard (not tiered like other frameworks) that defines consistent requirements for all organizations.
- Purpose: To help companies identify and apply the minimum IT and cybersecurity controls necessary to protect digital assets within their supply chain operations.
- Guidance: CSS serves as a foundational tool and should be complemented by referencing applicable national, regional, and international cybersecurity regulations to ensure full legal and regulatory compliance.
- Risk Mitigation: By implementing CSS, organizations enhance the resilience and security of their supply chain operations against cyber threats and system failures.
Note: The TAPA Cyber Security Standard (CSS) is a standalone certification. It does not replace the optional “IT and Cyber Security Threats” Enhanced Option available under the TAPA Facility Security Requirements (FSR) and Trucking Security Requirements (TSR) Standards.
Typical users of the TAPA CSS Standards include:
The TAPA Cyber Security Standard is intended for a broad range of stakeholders involved in supply chain operations, including:
- Buyers
- Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) / Applicants
- Law Enforcement and Government Authorities
- Professional Supply Chain Organizations
- Insurance Providers
All sections of the CSS are mandatory unless formally exempted through TAPA’s official waiver process.
