Three delivery personnel were apprehended after being caught red-handed stealing items from their own delivery truck while en route to various variety stores in Antipolo City, Rizal, early Friday morning, July 4.
According to the Antipolo City Police, the arrests were the result of an internal probe conducted by the delivery company where the suspects were employed. The investigation was prompted by multiple complaints from customers who reported receiving incomplete deliveries. These recurring issues raised suspicions within the company, leading management to take action and launch a discreet surveillance operation to monitor the activities of the delivery team during their distribution rounds.
During the monitoring operation, company personnel followed the suspects as they conducted deliveries in Barangay Sta. Cruz. They observed the suspects park their delivery truck and secretly unload several products that were meant for customers. The items were taken into a nearby house within the same barangay, suggesting a pre-arranged storage location for the stolen goods.
Realizing that the suspects were engaging in theft, the company staff immediately alerted the local police. Responding swiftly, officers arrived at the scene and arrested the suspects. A search of the premises led to the recovery of stolen merchandise. Among the recovered items were consumer staples such as packs of milk, juice, coffee, and seasoning, all of which were marked for delivery to customers.
Despite being caught in the act and the recovery of the stolen goods, the three suspects denied any involvement in the theft. They were taken into custody and are currently detained at the Antipolo City Police Custodial Facility. Formal charges of qualified theft have been filed against them as authorities continue to investigate the full extent of the case.
