The collaboration between the Transported Asset Protection Association Asia Pacific (TAPA APAC) and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce (MICCI) is seen as a significant breakthrough for both organizations. Through a productive meeting held on July 7, 2023, they have established a strategic partnership that aims to benefit their respective members. The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between TAPA APAC and MICCI is expected to take place soon.

MICCI is a highly esteemed chamber of commerce in Malaysia with a legacy of 185 years. It consists of 1,000 plus direct members and provides value to over 1,000 indirect members and member associations from various industries, including manufacturing, shipping, and logistics. MICCI plays a crucial role in offering valuable business information, facilitating best practices, and providing support services such as COO, Carnet services, and trade facilitation assistance on a national and international scale.

The collaboration between TAPA APAC and MICCI holds great potential, particularly for the manufacturing sector. TAPA APAC’s global standards, industry best practices, and risk assessment modules, implemented through its Membership, Training, and Certification programmes, will enable Malaysian manufacturers and MICCI members to establish resilient and sustainable supply chains.

Mr. Sangar Kandasamy, Treasurer and Board of Director of TAPA APAC, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, emphasizing its goal of assisting members from both associations in deriving value and benefits from the programmes and events organized by MICCI and TAPA APAC.

It is great to highlight that Mr. Kelvin Kee, Vice Chairman of MICCI, and Mr. Callum Chen, General Committee of MICCI and President of MCMTC, are also expressing their excitement about the collaboration and its potential to upskill the Malaysian workforce.

The collaboration aims to enhance engagement sessions and training programmes, reaching a wider audience and upskilling the workforce of Malaysian companies. This will contribute to the development of best business practices in the manufacturing and logistics industry, thereby benefiting the Malaysian economy and positioning Malaysia as an ideal place to do business in the ASEAN and APAC region.
